Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role will provide support in preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. They will also assist the accounts receivable and accounts payable departments with their day-to-day tasks as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the finance team.
- Assists with preparing journal entries and maintaining the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, reconciles accounts, and assists in month-end close.
- Assists with reconciling the bank accounts and verifying unknown deposits and wire transactions.
- Reconciles cash clearing accounts, customer accounts and other financial accounts.
- Processes credit memos, RA’s and payments as needed for the accounts receivable department.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate GL accounts.
- Responds to vendor inquiries, reconciles vendor statements, research and resolves discrepancies.
- Reviews weekly payment plan prior to submitting to Accounting Manager.
- Posts weekly vendor prepayments.
- Prepares and submits international invoices.
- Assists Finance team during audits by compiling and organizing audit data requests.
- Assists with contacting state revenue agencies with questions related to sales tax notices; help with related tax research.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, required.
- 1+ year of experience in accounting or a related role required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting.
- Understanding of, and ability to adhere to, generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas), as well as familiar with accounting software, NetSuite.
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- This is a hybrid role with a minimum of two (2) days in office at our Braintree, MA Headquarter.
